Six degrees of separation is the theory that anyone on the planet can be connected to any other person on the planet through a chain of acquaintances that has no more than five intermediaries. The theory was first proposed in 1929 by the Hungarian writer Frigyes Karinthy in a short story called "Chains."
Actually, I do find it to be somewhat true. Some degrees can be even be shorter.
For example, to get acquaint with the legendary Taiwanese producer, songwriter, singer 大哥， 李宗盛, it will take me 2 degree. Eg: Martin-> 阿管 (friend, songwriter, who is ex-boyfriend of Fish) －》梁靜茹 (Fish Leong, prodigy of Jonathan)－》李宗盛
To get acquaint to Cheer Chen, it would take me 3 degree, i.e from 李宗盛 onward :)
Another example to get acquaint to some of my favorite Hong Kong artists, it will take me 1 degree. Eg: Martin --> Ray (friend, who is a Mixing Engineer) ---> 李克勤 (Hacken Lee) or 陳慧琳 (Kelly Chen).
I find this to be even more interesting from Facebook friend, of a friend, of a friend etc. It is really a SMALL WORLD after all.
